Photo shoot with Marvell
July 11, 2008 by KerryG ·
It has been complete chaos here with people streaming through for headshots and portfolio shots and one that has stood out recently was Marvell. Marvell has a look that can switch easily from street hood gang shooter to business professional. He was very comfortable in front of the camera and the final results was a nice collection of different looks. Good luck with your career Marvell and I hope to shoot with you again sometime.
Lexi Rose Photo Shoot
July 9, 2008 by KerryG ·
Lexi is a terrific girl who was just incredible to shoot with. This was only her second photo shoot and she had such an amazing flow. Given a little more practice she is going to do extremely well. You can see more of her images at her model mayhem page. Lexi has told me already that she has got several job offers already due to some of the images from this shoot. Way to go Lexi! I can’t wait to shoot with her again.
Jessica Sterling Photo Shoot
July 6, 2008 by KerryG ·
I had the pleasure of working with Jessica this weekend. For a 17 year old she is extremely comfortable in front of the camera and had the flow of a seasoned professional. While this shoot was done for an upcoming article on Camera Dojo, I can’t wait to work with her on some more projects. See more of her work at: http://www.modelmayhem.com/jessicasterling
Here are a few more shots from the shoot:
·Daniel Ban Photo Shoot
July 5, 2008 by KerryG ·
Daniel came over to get some new headshots so I pulled out the new Photo Basics StrobeLites again and used them throughout the shoot. I highly recommend these new lights to anyone getting into studio photography, and it doesn’t hurt to find a subject like Daniel who was fun to work with, had a cool look, and together some really nice images came out of it.
Christopher Kennedy Photo Shoot
June 29, 2008 by KerryG ·
I needed to get some shots for the new Photo Basics StrobeLites and Christopher needed some new shots so it made for a perfect combination. We got some awesome images out of the shoot that I just had to get posted right away. Christopher was super cool to work with and I can’t wait to do some location shooting with him in the near future.
Photo Basics StrobeLite Kit First Look
June 28, 2008 by KerryG ·
We just got in the new Photo Basics StrobeLites to start checking out for an upcoming review that will appear soon on Camera Dojo. So far these monolights seem to be the perfect combination of features and price point. At around $650 for a three light system, this puts high quality lighting into the hands of almost anyone that can afford a DSLR. Also included is a floor mat to help with light placement and an instructional DVD. Here are a few shots that are of the lights themselves and were also lit with the lights.
Product shoot for VOIPSpeak
June 15, 2008 by KerryG ·
I actually got my start doing product photography and still enjoy doing it whenever possible, I actually still do quite a lot and was one of the main reasons for building a home studio. This weekend I got in a small project for VOIPSpeak to shoot a new wireless phone. Nothing overly special but I like letting people know I still enjoy product photography.
·Cars and Coffee Car Show
June 14, 2008 by KerryG ·
Every saturday morning just a block from the Irvine Spectrum is what could rightfully be called a billion dollar showroom. If you are coherent enough to wake up before the sun comes out, the Cars and Coffee show starts at 6am and runs until 9am. Today promised to be a big outing as the weather was perfect so I headed over to cover the event. To see a slide show from the show, click on the link to continue reading this article.

Visit to the Holy Jim Trail
June 2, 2008 by KerryG ·
Friends of mine have heard me talk about the Holy Jim trail as being one of my favorite hiking spots in Orange County. The real appeal of this spot is that it is a very woodsy environment with nice stream, several waterfalls, great scenery, and although you will end up walking eight miles, many people from young kids to senior citizens to the hike easily every weekend and all of this right in central Orange County just minutes from the hustle and bustle of homes and businesses. If this sounds like something you want to try for yourself, then read the complete story to find out how to get there and what to expect.
Winchester 1906 Comes Out of Retirement
May 27, 2008 by KerryG ·
My Great Grandfather purchased a 1906 Winchester rifle and used it to hunt for food for his family. Mostly critters like rabbits as it’s only a 22 caliber. This rifle really is over 100 years old and is in perfect working condition. The 1906 was the first model to feature a round barrel instead of the older octagon style. Based on the serial number, this rifle should have been made in 1907 which features the ability to use both 22 short and 22 long loads. Just days before my Grandfather died he called me over to give me the rifle and tell me the story about it so I could become the caretaker of this piece of family history. I have not even removed it from its holder since my Grandfather died about 8 years ago. I wanted to use it to celebrate it’s background in conjunction with my daughter Taylor. We came up with an idea and put together a quick photo shoot. Some of the images can be seen here.
